Five more lbs!!

Last night's weigh in was a definite success. After another 1.8 lbs, I am now officially down 18 lbs and am only 5 lbs away from my 10% goal. YAY! I'm so happy :)

Our leader was out last night & we had a substitute. And she was good, but the group wasn't really feeling her enthusiasm & wasn't responding like they respond to Jill. And it felt like a completely different mix of people at the meeting so it wasn't the kind of celebratory post-Independence Day meeting I was hoping for. But what are you gonna do?

I am very proud of my 18 lbs and now I'm more determined than ever to reach my 10%. I know five lbs is a bit much to expect in one week, but it's definitely possible to do in two. And that means not only being really good with my food intake (which shouldn't be too bad--no holidays and just one dinner out at a restaurant), but I really need to make sure I get in my exercise. I made my goal for 14 activity points last week & I hit 17. I'm going to keep my goal at 14 for this week because I want to maintain the exercise rather than upping it & failing. But 14 pts. is reasonable because it's 2 pts per day which is one 25 minute brisk walk which I can do on my lunch break or in the evening. I went for a nice long walk last night with mom & it felt great. Today is going to be sweltering, so maybe I'll do a short lunch walk, but I want to keep up the good work!

Let's do a little planning now...using storyboarding

Winning Outcome: To reach my 10% goal of 23lbs weight loss on or before July 20th.
I will do this by
  • Maintaining at least 14 activity points each week, fitting in daily 20-25 minute walks as well as 1hr or more of walking or other exercise on the weekends.
  • I will continue to track my points and try to stay within my daily points value, and only use the weekly points if I feel it's really worth it such as out at a dinner
  • I will go food shopping and continue to have healthy food options available to me.
  • If I make the wrong food choice, I will do my best to balance it out with healthier choices for the remainder of the day and the week or put in a little extra exercise effort.
Yay. I am also very proud that I've been keeping up my July month of fitness. Looking back, I fit in some exercise on all but one day. Let's keep that going!!

Tools for Life #1

So to help members reach their goals, WW has developed the Tools for Life strategy, giving us ways to plan out our goals and how to get there. So I figured I should start giving this part a shot. I'll highlight one every few days.

Tool #1: Winning Outcomes, setting a goal
What are my goals? Uh...lose weight? Fit into my clothes from HS? Not see rolls of flesh in photographs? I dunno. I haven't even set an ultimate goal weight. When I look at the framing of healthy weight for my height, it seems about 20 lbs lower than what I would want to be. But that's besides the point.

Some things I would like to do as I drop my weight & clothing sizes:
- Wear a bikini. Not that it's really my thing. But I would like to know that I could if I wanted to.
- Be able to shop in the expensive NYC boutiques and actually find a size that fits. Even if I can't afford to.
- Sit in a theater or airplane seat comfortably. Okay, so my knees will probably never be comfortable, but at least my ass will be.
- Wear leather boots which I can actually zip over my calves.
- Wear skinny jeans and look HOT in them!

Okay--so I guess that's a start. If I put all that together, maybe I can come up with my "winning outcome," a phrase stating what I really want. So, let's try this one on for size...

I want to get to my goal weight of 162 lbs and to improve my lifestyle by making healthy choices in my life.

My short term goals
I want to get to my 10% before the summer is over, and I will do it by following the plan, staying within my points, and incorporating regular exercise (at least 3x per week) into my life.

I feel like such a cheeseball.

If/when I get a bicycle, my goal is to be able to ride to work, gradually increasing from 1x/week up to every day if weather permits.

I want to kick ass in my bridesmaid dress Labor Day weekend.

I want to have fun on the beach in a bathing suit this summer.

I want at least one person I haven't seen in a while to go "wow--you look good!"

My ego is getting a bit out of control now...

So, those are my winning outcomes for today.
Next time-Tool #2: Storyboarding

Until then...
