You're so vain...

Alright--confession time again.

You probably think this song is about you
Friend's wedding Aug 22

I love how I look. I love seeing photos of me looking all small & fabulous. I have a hard time walking past a reflection (mirror, window, car hubcap) without checking me out. I love hearing compliments from people who haven't seen me in a while telling me how great I look, asking me what I did to lose the weight. Even more fun are the compliments from the people who don't have the guts to say that's why I look so great.

My 11 year HS Reunion from this weekend...
Two of those people did not go to HS with us.

Vanity.

All I think when I see this is...SKINNY!

I guess it's a sort of a fascination of seeing this new version of me. The version that I haven't really ever seen of me because even though I weighed less back in Jr. High, it was still a different version of me. This is the version who can rock the miniskirts and skinny jeans. This version wears makeup and heels. This version turns heads as she walks (even if it's only my own head I'm turning). And all this has perhaps raised the vanity level a wee bit.

Renaissance Faire last year (Robin Hood) and this year (...Link).

However this also influences how I look at older photos of myself. Cringing at the roundness of my face. Taking those photos out of the HS Reunion memory board which weren't flattering. Blanching at the thought that I actually went out looking like that. And almost feeling ashamed of being associated with that girl with the great personality who had a weight problem.

Yikes

Is this shallow? For someone who considers herself all accepting with no prejudices, I'm seeing in myself an awful lot of the shallow behavior I'd disassociated myself from for so long--even if the behavior is only towards my former rounder self.

I know it's all a part of the process, but I wonder how this will affect future Julia. I certainly don't want this to be a case of letting success get to my head--and I don't think I am or will be, but how should I be treating the relationship with my former and current self?

For those of you who have lost--what is it like seeing old photos? Do you find yourself feeling accomplished or feeling sorry for yourself? What about how you view your current self?

In the meantime I'll try working on reeling in my Over inflated Ego ;)

Until next time

Jeans update...

In case you were wondering what my lovely Burberry straight leg jeans which I raved over, contemplated over, squeezed into, and gave in to have been up to lately...

(yes, another lovely bathroom picture)
They've been livin and lovin life, spotted out on the town, hard at work, and turning heads across the tri-state area. They've even made their debut on the community theater stage.
They know how to make an impression. And now, they're not straining against those extra pounds and are quite comfortable.

Actively pursuing a goal

Woo!!! Activity points!

I don't know what possessed me, but last night i decided to take a walk because it was so gorgeous out. A long walk. To the grocery store. Like 2 miles each way. And on the way back I had bags.

It was great. And that was on top of a lunchtime walk and various strength exercises I threw in.

Tonight I'm actually going running with my friend Robyn. Well, I haven't been running in a while so it might be run/walking or something, but I'm excited about it nonetheless. Working up to training for that 5k.

I have so much energy. I'm going to take advantage of it while it's here!!

In the meantime, some updated photos. Only because I am wearing some capri pants that I've worn for a few summers, but they look REALLY good on me this year.

Sorry about the horrible backdrop...only place I could get a clear shot and I wanted to post this :)

Until next time

One year on WW = Shrinking Julia!

Thanks to a friend of mine visiting this weekend, I had some new photos taken. We were out and about in NYC living the life.

This is also the same friend who I had my original photos from exactly one year ago before I joined WW.

Here's the before at 230 lbs...

(yikes)

And some afters at 190 lbs...

What I'm absolutely amazed about is how small my shoulders and arms look! I can't get over that. In the photo w/my friend, my arms look the same size as hers! And she's tall and lanky thin! Even my legs in the (yes, it's a) pillow fight photo look skinny!!

I guess it is truly hard to recognize the progress just looking in a mirror, but now seeing what everyone else is seeing is truly encouraging!!

Happy anniversary to me!!

Until next time

Photo montage

And now a brief montage of some photos showing my progress. Some which I never posted and some newer ones. Plus one from last Winter pre-WW to compare.
They are posted from oldest to newest - the funky print skirt was taken today. I was really good at camouflaging my weight so the old one (accepting the Oscar) doesn't look all that bad, but trust me...it was.
You don't necessarily see the change in my proportions, but you definitely see it in my face. Yay me!

Halloween photo

Oh yes--and here's a Halloween photo to spruce up the text-filled blogs I've been posting.

Up up & away!

Photo update-bad photography

I just could not get a decent photo of this outfit. My crowded officespace isn't helping...The First three are from Tuesday--the last is from today. Other photos include heads being cut off.

Tomorrow is the Renaissance Faire in costume! Weight Watchers did not exist then...does that mean I can eat all the turkey legs I want?

Until next time

Bridesmaid dress #2

First photo 7/15, Second photo 7/30
I should have taken the first photo before it was pinned so you can really see how huge it was.
Next fitting 8/21

Better July-a photos!!

So I figured since I look so hot (seriously--check it out), I had better document it with photos--and these really do show off my slimmed down body...and my messy office.

By the way--I have a wall at home that if I stood in front you would not be able to see my dress because it's the same color. hahahaha--random fact of the day.

I am just ever so energetic today...

Yay me!

Photo update

Week 6 and 12.8 lbs down, I figured I should put up a new photo.

First the old one (EWWWW) and then one taken today.

It's not a noticeably drastic difference, but there's definitely less bumps and rolls .

Excuse the mess in the background.

Until next time.
